Bowls report for Friday 10th December 2010.

The Portland RSL Memorial bowling club division 1 white pennant side will travel to Grangeburn today to play sister club Portland in the grand final. The two sides have been evenly matched all season so spectators are assured of a close final. The teams are: J. McGrath (s), M. Jennings, L. Shields and K. Lovell; M. Husson (s), J. Woolley, J. Englezos and L. Compton; B. Moon (s), J. De Zoete, G. Evans and L. Buchanan. The emergency is S. Groves.

• Betty Moon and Leonie Buchanan won the women’s drawn pairs when they defeated Norma Amor and Kathryn Beauglehole.
• Ken Woolley (s), Colin Hawker, John Buchanan and Ken Evans (RSL Memorial) won the Mt Gambier invitation hams event on Sunday. Graeme Solly (s), Mathew Solly, Simon Merritt and Lee Cook also from RSL Memorial were third.
• In last Saturday’s men’s pennant division 1 RSL Memorial were defeated by Grangeburn Red 89-92; division 2 lost to Macarthur 48-65; division 3 defeated Dartmoor 88-58 and division 4 lost to Hamilton 58-64. This week division 1 hosts Grangeburn Blue; division 2 plays host to Portland; division 3 travels to Casterton and division 4 plays host to Casterton.
• Graeme Solly and David Dunlop will represent RSL Memorial when they play at Portland in the Far Western singles finals on Sunday.
• Bowls Victoria “Wheel Chair Sports” charity day will be played on Tuesday. Come along and support this very worthy cause. Bring along any produce, plants, preserves et cetera for the stall which will commence at 11am. The mixed drawn bowls will commence at 1pm.
• Last Wednesday’s social bowl winners were Paul Wetherill and Ken Bridgewater from runners up John Platt and Peter Pevitt. Twilight – P. Liebelt, P. Bentham and B. Wood from runners up S. Hollis, S. Lakey and D. Kitt.
• Dates to remember: Tomorrow– mixed afternoon social bowls. Sunday – mixed bowls; Monday – coaching (5pm) and twilight bowls at 6pm.; Tuesday – women’s mixed bowls charity day; Wednesday – men’s social; Thursday – bare foot bowls at 5.30pm.; Friday – sponsored ladies social. Sunday 19th December – Christmas family BBQ and bowls.
